Recognized as one of the outstanding initiatives by Social Innovation Warehouse

July 2020

YSI along with Dame & Earl was recognized as an outstanding initiative of the capacity Building Program of Social Innovation Warehouse (SIW), a Y20 summit initiative. 

The Social Innovation Warehouse under the EIDOS Global is an international repository of youth-led scalable projects aligned to the SDGs. It was launched to connect youth innovative solutions with other stakeholders including Governments, NGOs and other Organisations that wish to implement and support such youth initiatives and policies.

YSI was selected out of hundreds of application and was nominated for the program by One Young World, which is a global forum of young people making progress towards UN SDGs. 

YSI is now a proud member of the Social Innovation Warehouse. 

Our co-founder represents us in One Young World summit as a Chanel Scholar

October 2019

Our co-founder Kishore was selected as one of the 15 recipients of the CHANEL scholarship to attend the One Young World summit in London.

One Young World is a global forum for young people making progress towards the United Nation's 17 Sustainable Development Goals. OYW hosts annual summits gathering young people from around the globe who participate in four days of speeches, panel debates, networking events and workshops to develop solutions for the world’s most pressing issues. Speakers at previous summits have included Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, Kofi Annan, Justin Trudeau, Sir Richard Branson, Sir Bob Geldof, Professor Muhammad Yunus, Paul Polman, and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex. 

Chanel is a French fashion house that focuses on women's high fashion and ready-to-wear clothes, luxury goods and accessories. The company is owned by Alain Wertheimer and Gérard Wertheimer, grandsons of Pierre Wertheimer, who was an early business partner of the couturière Coco Chanel.

Nominated to present in the UNCCD COP 14 youth forum

September, 2019

YSI was selected among many applications by the UNCCD youth caucus to present at UNCCD COP 14 during the youth forum. 4 members from team YSI took part in the event. 

United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) is one of the three conventions, together with the UNFCCC and UNCBD, the process for which initiated at the Rio Earth Summit 1992, together with the adoption of Agenda 21. UNCCD itself was adopted in 1994. 

Discussions on setting up a formal youth process at UNCCD took place through different avenues, formally and informally. The final guidance came at the annual meeting of UN Inter-agency Network on Youth Development (IANYD) at Paris in March 2019. In April 2019 after several procedural consultations, there was  “green light” given members of YOUNGO, UN MGCY and its affiliated constituencies to formalize youth engagement at UNCCD.

YSI is a proud member of the UNCCD youth engagement process. YSI has contributed to the policy paper which served as the final outcome of the UNCCD Youth forum of UNCCD COP 14 which had an engagement of 50+ youth organizations, 8 UN entities, and 10+ presentations.

Invited to the Global Youth Employment Forum, Nigeria hosted by ILO

August, 2019

YSI was nominated by the United Nations Inter-Agency Network on Youth Development (UN-IANYD) to be a part of the event presenting in the share fair. 

The Youth Employment ShareFair was an opportunity for young people to share their ideas, projects, and startups during the Forum. 

Participants exhibited best practices, new ideas, recent achievements—anything relevant to the youth employment challenge. Exhibitions identify interventions, actions, and approaches that promote inclusion and respect diversity for specific groups.

The Forum hosted by the International Labour Organization (ILO) united young people, government representatives, social partners, academics, and staff from multilateral organizations, regional institutions, foundations, civil society, and the private sector to:

  • Discuss the future of work, the transition to decent work, and emerging challenges

  • Facilitate intra- and inter-generational sharing of knowledge and experiences

  • Boost decent jobs for youth, equality, and rights

Speakers included the Director-General of ILO - Guy Ryder, youth and labour ministers from multiple countries, and other leaders from governments, civil socities and private sectors,

Co-Founder invited to represent YSI in the Annual Conference on Decent Jobs for Youth, Italy hosted by ILO

May 2019

Our co-founder was selected as one of the 5 young leaders by the United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth (UNMGCY) to represent young people in the conference hosted by the International Labour Organization (ILO). He was invited as a speaker on the topic of "Young People Greening the Economy" based on his work in YSI. He made sure to give insights on greening the existing industries alongside the focus on the clean energy sector. His focus was on greening the fashion industry, which is an initiative of YSI. 

The conference brought together governments, social partners, academia, youth and civil society organizations, private sector, foundations, regional and multilateral organizations, and many more partners to:

1. Stimulate innovative thinking on job creation strategies that foster the rights and voices of young people.
2. Facilitate a dialogue and broker collaboration among participants.
3. Mobilize political will and resources to scale up investment and impact in youth employment.

Co-Founder represented YSI in the UN Global Festival of Action, Germany

April, 2019

Our co-founder Neha was invited to represent the youth and YSI in the Global Festival of Action hosted annually by the UN SDG Action Campaign team. YSI was able to make meaningful collaborations through this event. We have used this opportunity to impact more people by increasing the visibility and by providing more opportunities to youth through the partners. 

The SDG Global Festival of Action is a ground-breaking annual event, designed by and for the SDG Action community and powered by the UN SDG Action Campaign with the support of the German BMZ, the German Federal Foreign Office and other partners with the overall aim of inspiring action for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The SDG Global Festival of Action is designed by and for the international SDG action community to meet and connect, to share, experience and learn from the latest thinking, approaches and practices to be better equipped to advance the Goals together. Over 2,000 SDG changemakers from around the world including artists and creatives, social innovators, philanthropists, international institutions & NGOs, local authorities and national governments, academia and leading businesses will come together with the shared goal of finding new ways to inspire action for the SDGs.

Our co-Founder invited to represent YSI in the "Localize SDGs" conference in Indonesia

July 2018

Our co-founder Neha was invited to represent and speak at the "Localize SDGs" events organized by the United Cities and Local Governments Asia Pacific (UCLG-ASPAC) in Indonesia where she discussed about the importance of education and youth who would play a key role in shaping the future. She put forward some insights on transforming the education model in Indonesia. 

UCLG is a worldwide association, and the only local government organization recognized by the United Nations. It  nominates 10 out of 20 members of the United Nations Advisory Committee of Local Authorities (UNACLA), the first formal advisory body of local authorities affiliated with the UN.

The Asia and Pacific region is the biggest of the Regional Sections in UCLG with linkages to more than 7,000 local governments. It represents well over 3.76 billion people- making up more than half of the world’s population– and incorporates economically fast developing countries such as China, India, and Indonesia.

YSI presented in the Make in Odisha conclave and was selected as a training partner by Adventz Group CSR

November, 2018

YSI received the offer to train rural women of Odisha supported by the Corporate Social Responsibility of the Adventz Group in Odisha. 

The Make In Odisha Conclave is the flagship biennial business event of the Government of Odisha. After the resounding success of the event in 2016, the State organized the second edition of the marquee event at Bhubaneswar from November 11 to 15, 2018.

The conclave showcased the policy & regulatory environment, investment opportunities across focus sectors and the manufacturing prowess of the State.

The conference had a footfall of over 50000+ people reaching 8m+ people with 250+ speakers and 600+ events.
